Cuban Missile Crisis - Adrian C.
90 miles south of Florida, is Cuba where in October of 1962 held a threat on America. Fidel Castro no stranger to the soviets agreed to hold a key to a possible nuclear war. The Soviets gave Cuba the tip of their nuclear bomb. The Soviet Union planned to make Cuba their trigger if America created any funky business mainly with the bombs next door in Turkey.
After it was discovered that Cuba was holding bombs the American spy U-2 plane flew over Cuba to find out info of what seemed to be happening. The next step for the U.S. was a naval blockade around Cuba, not letting anything or one in nor out. At this point the crisis was practically over all that happened after was a verbal scare off. Leading to both sides agreeing to take back their weapons and not bomb each other nor ally countries.
Currently Cuba’s terms is not well after the threats said in 1962. Nowadays Cubans are not welcome in America and Americans are not welcomed in Cuba. The latest news update on the situation, is that travels to cuba is now easier but visiting plans can be denied if not part of 12 specific categories.
